Road conditions for Mahogany Flat area

We are planning on camping in the Mahogany Flat area sometime soon. All of the info I have seen states that "high clearance vehicles" are recommended. We have a Dodge 4x4 pickup - should that be ok? Generally speaking, what is the road up to Mahogany like (i.e. jeep trail, fire road, or ???)
