The north pass is my favorite also, when time permits. From the looks of the weather forcasts there could be the chance of snow on the passes by next week. A few years ago I drove my range rover in by the north pass in deep snow after a failed try at the south pass. We had the springs almost to ourselves excoept for those lucky ones who were stranded there by the snow. When we left we headed out the south end and came across a guy in a 2wheel drive van who was buried in the snow. We spent the rest of the day digging him out and pushing him up the Grapevine (he would not let us infront of him to break trail). After hours of pushing and digging we finaly made it to Lee Flat where the snow let up. Off he went like a rocket. He never said thanks or acknowledged our help. Hope this trip is not the same.
