Steve Smith and several other hikers/climbers rapelled down the canyon several years ago. He has a write up on the bee keeper, I will get a copy and post it.
The bee keeper was very resourseful. In the cabin below the canyon mouth, he used tin cans to join limbs together to make a long "beam".
