Death Valley wheelchair push

Next April I will be supporting a wheelchair bound friend of mine as he pushes 100 miles through Death Valley in support of Sep 11. He no stranger to this type of thing as he has pushed all over the world like the Falklands and more recently Washington DC to New York.We will be flying over next April for the challenge and I will be in the support vehicle.
Has anyone got any advice or tips on what to wear or bring. We are assuming it will be hot but I would be grateful for any advice.
